Candice Richard Fan Art for Boston Metaphysical Society

With the internet you really never know how far you reach. Yes, we have Google Analytics and data to ponder how many visits we have from other countries, but it never hits home until you get an email from a fan in South Africa who on their own decided to do fan art for the comic. I was honored and flattered.

So without further ado I’d like to introduce you to Candice Richards, a young artist working on developing her craft as well as a soon-to-be-published steampunk alternate history comic about three ‘ordinary’ brothers who get whisked into an adventure when they stumble upon their Grandfather’s personal portal to another world, a world permanently stuck in a more awesome version of the age of steam and wonder. There they meet a rag-tag crew of paradoxical historical figures, literary figures, and other mysterious characters, including Nikola Tesla, Da Vinci, Mary Shelley, Victor Frankenstein and his Creature, HG Wells, the mysterious Thorn sisters, and many more, who intend to, with the help of several magical relics and marvelous machines take down the malevolent dictator Napoleon Bonaparte, a.k.a The Grand Chancellor, and his cronies.  You can see more of her work at:  http://ravenviolet777.deviantart.com

Candice explains her inspiration, “This is not from any actual scene, but this is just the young medium Caitlyn O’Sullivan and scientist Nikola Tesla (whom I drew in my style for some reason). I was playing with a fact that I recently read in one of his biographies – due to his very rational point of view, when another scientist explained and showed evidence for various psychic phenomena, Tesla’s logic malfunctioned and he kept fainting (or it could also have been because he REALLY needed a vacation).
The funny thing is, in the Victorian era, women didn’t really have many outlets to express themselves, and any outburst was frowned upon, so usually they just fainted or pretended to faint. And seeing poor Nikola here getting the vapours while Caitlyn stands like “okay… Wtf, it’s just ghosts!”

Thank you, Candice!
